I THINK I AM IN HEAVEN!!!! At least as close to heaven as a 51 year old unemployed female can be! At least I am not crazy!
I applied for a job the other day as a LEGO SORTER. Yes, you read correctly, A LEGO SORTER. It doesn’t bother me that I am college educated, hard working, intelligent and unemployed-okay, yes, it bothers me- but my point is work is work and after being a 99er-laid off two years ago, benefits expiring, I am proud to do any work, and always have been!
No, what bother me is that for this 2 WEEK POSITION, PART TIME, this employer wanted a resume, cover letter WITH A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF why ” YOU FEEL YOU ARE AN IDEAL CANDIDATE” for the position. For a LEGO SORTER!

I have applied for every job under the sun and will continue to do so. That being said, my benefits have run out, so I have decided to sell everything I own to make a film about being one of the 99er’s. I would also like to get the stories of other 99ers. I am looking for a cross section of people, especially older Americans (50+), Republicans, Democrats, Independents -but I am interested in hearing from any and all.
I plan to distill the interviews to 99 stories, make copies of them and send one to EACH MEMBER OF CONGRESS. I know this is a sensitive subject, but I want these people to put a face on those destroyed the most, those left with no more recourse. I promise I will treat you and your story with the utmost dignity and respect

I am starting a blog of my own – where in the focus would be to talk about trying to find a job in the US in the current economy especially for an MBA. I am an international student and need work authorization to work in this country which has often been the biggest roadblock that I have faced when trying to find employment!!
Do you have suggestions? the website that i have provided you is currently WIP – I am finding it difficult to write about topics and dont want the blog to be very serious!!
