Still looking for your plan b?

2010 March 28

Still no job?  Getting dangerously close to the end of your last EDD extension and no plan b?  Maybe it’s time to hit the street.  Take a lesson from this guy.  I think his name is Paco.  Maybe not.  Whatever his name is he’s awesome.

Just because you ain’t got not job doesn’t mean you can’t make the world a more entertaining place!  Get funky with your bad self.

Love, the management.

A long time ago (18 years to be exact), in the midst of a very difficult time I went back to school for about a year to get a degree in computer information science. Since then I have had many years of experience as a programmer/web developer.

Fast forward to 8 months ago – at the age of 56 I was laid off – yikes!!! Within 6 weeks I had 4 jobs on the line – I accepted the best offer and have been progressing here every since – by the way this is the best job I have ever had. I am working at http://www.job.com and by the there are 800,000+ jobs currently online at Job.com

Now, I would advise you to get into something that has a future … probably healthcare related though education, InformationTechnology, and accounting all seem to be faring well.

There are lots of jobs in specific niches, but in other area there are lots of people wanting very few jobs. Find a good niche and get trained for it. All the best to you in this.

Good for you Jim! Did you retool your resume/interview skills during the layoff? This is the biggest thing I advise my clients to do. With so many unemployed people out there, the competition for each job is that much stiffer. you NEED to stand out to get a call for an interview.
