Does that include the mexicans who cut lawns, and blow vegatation b/c they make great dinero–no joke—~$55-68K unreported clip hedges and watering plants, etc,,,,hard work, but look at the tax-free dinero.
reading about that too, those mexicans remittances are way down, many leaving american b/c no jobs and very little money. Sad state of affairs. I have a doctorate, cannot find a job, and have student loan hell, thought going to school would help me get job. guess i was really wrong.
I have been out of work since last December. My unemployment (extension) will soon come to an end. When I talk to the people at the Bureau of Unemployment to find out why my tiny income has been held up because I worked a temp position for one day I groan when they tell me “….hey – I have to take a day off without pay – so I know how tough it is out there”. Are you shitting me? Let’s swap positions. You stay at my home, listen to threatening calls from bill collectors and try to negotiate a workout with the mortgage company so you’re not out on the street and I’ll take your SAFE job.
Ihave been unemployed since September 11,2009. It is a great coincidence that getting “laid Off” was the same day the twin towers were demolished by terrorists. Little did I know my life would also be in a state of demolition. Being laid off for two months has contributed to eating more, sleeping less, eating less, sleeping more. I also don’t have a back up plan. But, I go to church regulary and continue to maintain hope in spite of the fact that all of my confidence is down the drain. I was laid off on that Friday at 4:00 because the company cannot afford me. I had just made a year. I also, worked long hours without compensation and now I just have to keepo on fighting and not give up which is easier said then done when you are over forty. Good lluck to all. Have faith in yourselves.
And what about those who are disabled, want to work, and cannot get a job? ? The Department of Labor reports, October unemployment was around 9-percent for non-disabled workers. The rate for workers with disabilities is about 16-percent. And it’s growing faster than overall unemployment, making finding a job as a disabled person, even more daunting. I would like to let all readers know about a company that only hires those who are disabled and want to work from home on a part time basis. J. Lodge is a premier quality call services company whose dedication and commitment in providing jobs for disabled Americans has been the foundation of its 10 year history. Due to its success, they are now hiring and accepting applications for disabled individuals looking for part-time work at home careers. Those interested must be receiving Social Security Disability benefits and have a Ticket to Work. To apply, visit: http://www.jlodge.com/careers.
I collected unemployment for 124 weeks ( 2 regular 26 week claims…must jump through some hoops to get the 2nd regular claim) 4 UI extensions , and a FED Ed extension.
2 months after getting my last UI check I got a job that pays me more than I have ever earned before.
How did I do it? I acted like I wasn’t really that interested in the job. I let them chase me.
Of course I am not in my 40′s or 50′s, I do have a college education, and several additional certs.
Also, you must be creative with your resume cause no one will ever hire anyone who has collected unemployment for 2.5 years. In other words you will have to lie and say you have a job and get a friend to lie for you too as your supervisor. However, most temp agencies run employment verification background checks so dont try it there.
SO if you have been unemployed for a long time but are not ok with lies and deception dont try to re-enter the work force because you will only get rejection.
The underground economy is still booming.

There…I feel better, but not by much.
