Video: How to Apply for Unemployment Insurance in California
Based on a lot of the conversations being had on this blog, I think it’s safe to say that most everybody that has had to deal with California’s EDD has had a pretty miserable experience. We’ve tried to offer some tips and tricks that might just help you resolve your Unemployment Insurance claim problems without having to spend the better part of a week on the phone. And after having my own little EDD problem today I discovered that we’re not the only ones out there with a few words of advice. Yes, California’s own Economic Development Department has produced this cool and soothing new video that’s geared towards helping you process your claim without getting totally fubared. But even if you do everything they tell you to, there’s a good chance you end up a little crazy like this guy:
Unemployment insurance is so Old Economy. It is geared for “permanent” full-time employees.
Short-term temps, p/t, commissioned, and low-wage workers are SOL.
This is what we pay 9.75% sales taxes for: hokey, joke videos for the typical imbecile who cannot understand simple info? maybe they have a similar video regarding getting welfare for all the mexicans.

No, they (illegal mexicans) are taking undertable jobs (no reported income taxes) and benefits, hence why CA is bankrupt, double digit unemployment and is issuing IUOs, complete with a 9.75% massive sales tax. state is a second/ third world joke.
ay caramba! and here i was thinking that they were only responsible for forgetting sour cream in my burrito. no more late night tacos for this gringo; you with me arnold? let’s boycott those sombrero bandits until they lower the sales tax!

The best part of the EDD’s video was seeing all the EDD employees not on the phones.
Maybe they ought to man those phones they make ~20-25/hour with generous state benefits. stop making amateur videos and start working for the citizens of California.
What about an extension “video” for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd extensions given the depression and non existent labor market?
