Diaries of a Temp, Chapter 19: Joey Greco: Employee of the Month

Wondering why you don’t have a job? Wishing you’d get more credit for your work? Struggling to get your picture up on that “Wall ‘O Fame”?
Well it’s not going to happen and I’ll tell you why.
Because employees like Joey Greco exist, that’s why.Yes, I’m referring to the host and heart of the hit television show “Cheaters“, and no, you’ll never be as good at your job as he is at his.
What exactly does he do, you ask? Um, only solve mysteries, defuse bombs, recover from stabbings, engage in fierce verbal battles and demystify the issue of infidelity. What do you have on that?
Joey Greco, relationship detective and giant fan of knee length leather coats, wasn’t always the best employee in the world. Quite the contrary in fact. Up until 2002, Greco, like many of us, experienced mildly marginal career success. From relationship counselor to fitness expert, he struggled to find his niche. But after a short and unsuccessful stint as a fitness programming host for ESPN, Joey was, (and I quote from JoeyGreco.com) “bitten by the acting bug”. Enter: Cheaters.
For those of you who have never seen the show Cheaters, A. shame on you and B. shame on me.
In the same vein as ”Jerry Springer”, “Judge Judy” and “Elimidate”, Cheaters is a show about, well, cheaters. In it Joey and a crack team of gumshoes are hired by men and women to investigate their significant other’s faithfulness or, as it always turns out, lack thereof. Using heart wrenching dedication and modern technology, Cheaters is a reality show that is striving for excellence. And in my opinion, they have Joey Greco to blame, err I mean, thank for that. Armed with feline-like instincts, an inquisitive stare and a passion for truth (again, quoted from his personal website), Joey is single- handedly changing lives and kicking a%$.
What’d you do today?
In a time of such career uncertainty, we can all take notes from Joey’s hard work, passion and ability to scream “Don’t you think you owe her an explanation?!”

Joey Greco had the acting bug you say?
Here’s a scenario I’d like to imagine:
We are outside a Hollywood studio with a sign on the door that says “The Matrix Reloaded: Auditions Inside!” Maybe with a clip art guy doing the “shh” gesture.
Suddenly the door flys open and out stomps Joey, dejectedly, and decked out in black. Then, across the studio lot we see another sign on a door “Cheaters: Host Auditions Inside!” Joey see’s it too and marches straight in…
And the rest, as they say, is history!
God bless Joey’s commitment to the Truth. Even Plato would be jealous and Joey’s zeal for what’s real.

i have never watched cheaters but has a friend once who considered using it. I think YOU have to pay THEM $1000 to spy on your significant other. NICE & CLASSY.
