2009 April 16

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the ten metropolitan areas with the highest unemployment rates, nine are in California:

The list ends at 372. The figure in the far right column is the unemployment rate. Overall, grim outlook for the Golden State.

At least, according to Tupac, we know how to party…

Redding, Salinas, Fresno, Stockton.. these are “once booming” dead places in California. The life in California could be found in San Francisco Bay Area and LA; San Diego (some life), Sacramento (some life).

I did a double-take on reading this thinking “The word metropolis applies to those communities?”

Turns out it does since the government uses “Metropolitan Statistical Areas” as a description for particular areas, so thanks for expanding my knowledge!

Most of the most depressed areas are in the San Joaquin/inland valley area (El Centro is near the Mexican border) with Bakersfield & Stockton in the bottom 20. Meanwhile San Francisco & San Diego are .1% better than the national average, Los Angeles/Orange County is 1.3% worse than average and Santa Barbara & San Luis Obispo are beating the average by .8%. Riverside/San Bernardino (aka “The Inland Empire”) is 3% worse than average and about 50 from the bottom. Based on this information, it’s clear that inland California is in a Depression (and it always has been a depressing area) while coastal California is getting off easy. What we in SLO County fear most right now is a massive influx of “Okies from Bakersfield”.

At least Calif. pays more than NY in weekly UI! $475 vs. $430.

You cannot get through to the CA EDD, they do not return calls, do not answer, IF you get through you are cut off, IF you get through the govt. worker has such a thick accent and has the IQ of an ice-cube, you have to repeat stuff 8-10X and talk really loud into phone, then the EDD finds everywhich way thanks to slime lawyers to find a way to denie legitimate benefits. Yet, the illegal central americans paid under table, turn communities into slums, do not have licenses etc… get treated like gold in Los Angeles. The fact that these are 5-6 languages listed in EDD is a disgrace. THIS IS AMERICAN–LEARN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. Maybe if we email Sen. Dianne Slimestein we can not get a response.

I tried calling EDD; cannot get through. Double digit unemployment and those state and federal lackies are making sure they take care of everyone else except the—TAXPAYER. Where is Arnold, sitting in first class on our dime–thought he is a man of the people?!? Where is obama–is he the man of the people. people are losing their homes, their jobs and are getting the ROYAL run around from EDD. Where is Patrick Henning, where is Lori Levy, where are they
WHERE ARE THEY. WHY ARE THESE STATE EMPLOYEES NOT RESPONDING? Are they on yet another day off or another holiday, or are they enjoy their medical and dental care courtesy of YOUR tax dollars. Where is the outrage?!?

SD has 4% unemployment due to a stable oil, mining, and agricultural economy.

NH, MA, and NJ have a top unemployment weekly benefit of over $500.

Who in their right mind would like in SD? Or the mid-west, or the NE, the weather is horrible, they are cheapstakes, and they have rancid personalities. Plus there are numerous hill billies, the poverty and healthcare is quite poor except for Taxachusetts.

Plus all the jobs are taken up by nepotism, croynism, right last names, and IF you get an “job interview”, you can enjoy being “interviewed” by a gum smacking teenie bopper who twirls her hair during the “interview.” That’s the USA.
