Recession deprives dog of snausages. Why God, why?

2009 March 4

snausagesTimes are tough and we’ve all had to cut back. For me that’s meant no more eating out, no more movie theaters and no more soap or tooth paste.  And after a few weeks, you know what, it’s not so bad.  However it’s a lot easier to cut back on personal luxuries than it is to take them away from those that depend on you.   So for the past three months I’ve deprived myself of these luxuries so that I could continue to provide my dog, Nando, with his beloved snausages.  But today, I decided that it would be best to cut these out of the budget as well.  I tried to make Nando understand but he just stormed out of the house like a hormonal teenager yelling something about joining the circus.  Three hours later I found him a few blocks away doing this:

Is there no end to who this recession will effect?

Heart-breaking. However, I’d like to commend your pup on his fine penmanship.

My cats still get treats. But they have to endure me standing in front of them and yelling, “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” Maybe some kind of arrangement can be made so that Nando provides a service in exchange for his snausages.

Okay John, here’s the deal. We have a few dogs and they live pretty good. I’ve been looking since November so I can sympathize with your situation. I am not receiving unemployment benefits so I’m really on my own but I like dogs, cats too. Anyhow I’ll send you some really good dried dog treats made from salmon by a local company. Your dog should never go without.

Thanks Pat/Mother Jones for offering to send dog treats. I’ll keep that in mind if we get that far down the unemployment road. For now, I think Nando will survive (he’s still not talking to me though) :)

Some ideas for NANDO 1. register for food stamps and/or unemployment yourself (with our government workers this USUALLY takes care of the problem for at LEAST a year) 2. send your “picture” to the makers of Snausage and offer to cut a deal for a commercial 3.the food bank here in Fort Bragg (Mendocino County) gives free Frontline leashes and dog treats to their clients pets (TRUE) – good luck Nando with your creative and cute owner I would bet he gets work soon.

nando! by the photo i see you’re near the lake. get to any of the pet food stores in the area (another good one is at macarthur and fruitvale). tell them your sob story. you’ll be rolling in snausages in no time…

Send Nando’s pictures to Snaugages and Beggin Strips. One of those companies might be willing to bite.

Has anyone registered/signed up for the greenies free sample offer on the website? It’s been 6 weeks. My dog, Rolly, is still waiting.

Although I’m certain the photgrapher thought this was funny. The sad fact is that here in San Francisco, there are many homeless people with dogs. I always wonder if they’re being fed correctly and on the right meds. Flea medication alone is about $80 a pop.
