Getting Laid Off Makes You Feel Very Normal
When I got laid off a couple of weeks ago I was really pushing hard at my job and I saw a future for me there. I had visions of climbing the corporate ladder and delegating more tasks than taking orders. But then I showed up, on what seemed to be just another day, and the next thing I know i’m walking out the door with a potted plant in one hand, and my last pay check in the other. Didn’t see it coming. Eight drinks later I was overcome with a sense of normalcy as it dawned on me: I AM the 8.2% of unemployed in california. I AM the household that suddenly has to make due on one income. I AM the guy deferring his student loans and applying for unemployment. I AM Main street mutha fucka! Of course, then I had a few more drinks and I felt like the unemployed Superman, but you get what i’m saying. I felt this guy:
Just putting my hands up for Nurse Whiskers.
This is now my favorite song……….Mutha Fucker
